It took a while for me to discover that folk music was where my heart was. As soon as I realised that calling, I started digging. After quite a bit of research on Tamil folklore, In 2009 I decided to create a project to showcase folk music/musicians from my region to a much larger audience and through that, kick start a dialogue between indigenous artists and contemporary musicians. The project is called la pongal.
